Moroccan decor brings rich colors, luxurious texture and geometric patterns to your bedroom. Moroccan decor is known for its ability to c

reate a sense of romance and mystery while surrounding you with exotic accents. Although not one of the more popular bedroom décor themes, Moroccan décor is certainly an inspiration that should be explored.

Color

Moroccan décor is inspired by jewel tones, spices and the natural elements. This means that you can combine colors such as fig green and turquoise or ruby red with cinnamon to achieve eye catching results. If you choose paint your walls, use one primary color and be sure to paint the ceiling as well as the moldings because Moroccan decorating does not allow the use of white at all. If you use wallpaper on your walls, you can easily find colorful geometric patterns. As with the paint, be sure to cover your moldings and your ceiling. The combination of wallpaper and painted ceiling will give your bedroom décor a broader feeling.

Flooring

Wood flooring is favored in Moroccan bedroom décor. However, the wood should not be left bear. Lay one large carpet or several small ones thr

oughout the bedroom for a truly Moroccan feel.

Lighting

To obtain an authentic Moroccan lighting, hang Moroccan lanterns on the walls and from the ceiling or simply arrange them on the night stands. You can also arrange candles throughout the bedroom. Bring patterns to your décor by using lamps that have cutouts of shapes, therefor creating patterns on nearby surfaces.

Fabric

Moroccan décor is known for using all sorts of luxurious fabrics as décor accessories. Whether it’s delicate chiffon or plush velvet, accessorize your bed

room with yards and yards of fabric. You can complement these accessories by hanging some beautiful drapes around the window or twist a piece of fabric around a chair.

Bedding

To ensure your bed is consistent with your Moroccan decoration, use luxurious, patterned and textured bedding. When that’s done add several pillows and cushions in different sizes to the bed.  If your ceiling is high enough, hang a canopy over the bed to bring in a sense of romance.

Moroccan décor uses shapes and patterns as an essential tool. Hexagons are the main shapes used in Moroccan decorating, but medallions and diamonds are commonly found as well. Tassels and fringe detailing are also commonly found in Moroccan décor and can be added to the ends of the cushions as well as the fabrics that are draped throughout the bedroom.  Try out this theme in your bedroom and let us know how it works for you.
